Hands-free entrances that keep your business moving

An automatic door is the first thing your customers touch — and the one entrance that has to work every single time. Range Shop Fronts designs, installs and maintains powered automatic doors that open smoothly, run quietly and meet the UK's safety rules, whether you run a busy high-street shop, a supermarket, a clinic or a warehouse.

From a brand-new automatic entrance to a same-week breakdown repair, we handle the survey, the door leaves in aluminium or glass, the operator, the sensors and the commissioning — then keep it running with planned servicing. Everything is fitted and tested to BS EN 16005, the safety standard for power-operated pedestrian doors.

  • Supply & installation of new automatic doors
  • Repairs and 24/7 emergency breakdown callout
  • Planned servicing & maintenance contracts
  • Automating (retrofitting) an existing manual door

What we install

Types of automatic doors we fit

Every entrance is different. We supply the full range of powered pedestrian door systems (all except revolving and curved-sliding) and match the right one to your traffic, opening width and budget.

Automatic sliding doors

The classic shop and lobby entrance. A single panel slides aside on a sensor — sleek, space-saving and ideal for offices, retail units and clinics.

Most popular

Bi-parting sliding doors

Two panels part in opposite directions for a wide, clear opening. Built for high-traffic entrances — supermarkets, hospitals and shopping centres.

High traffic

Telescopic sliding doors

Overlapping panels give the widest possible opening in a tight structural gap — perfect where wall space is limited but access needs to be generous.

Automatic swing doors

A powered operator on a hinged door — great for internal lobbies, accessible entrances and retrofitting an existing manual door to open at the push of a button.

Automatic bi-fold doors

Folding leaves that open fast in a shallow space — a smart solution for entrances that need a wide clear opening without deep tracks.

Low-energy / disabled-access

Gentle, slow-opening operators activated by a push pad — designed for accessible entrances and full Equality Act / DDA compliance.

Our automatic sliding-door system

For most sliding installations we fit a proven, quiet worm-gear operator with a built-in catch-return safety feature that reverses the door the instant a person or object is detected. It's CE-marked and available in a fully BS EN 16005-compliant configuration.

Safety & compliance

Every door commissioned to BS EN 16005

BS EN 16005 is the British/European standard for power-operated pedestrian doors. On its own it isn't law — but meeting it is how an automatic door satisfies your legal duties under the Machinery Directive and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998. We install, commission and service every door to comply.

Safety sensors

Presence and motion sensors detect people and objects and stop the door closing on them.

Clear safety zones

The area around the door is kept free of pinch and trap points, with guarding where needed.

Emergency escape

Doors open by hand or fail-safe in a power cut so people can always get out.

Correct signage

Clear "automatic door" markings so users know how the entrance behaves.

Routine servicing

At least an annual safety & force test — every 6 months for busy sites — keeps you compliant.

Documented handover

You get the paperwork showing the door was set up and force-tested to standard.

FAQs

Automatic doors — your questions answered

We install automatic sliding, bi-parting sliding, telescopic, swing, bi-fold and low-energy disabled-access doors. We don't fit revolving or curved-sliding doors. Sliding systems are the most common for shopfronts and lobbies; swing operators are ideal for retrofitting an existing manual door.

Often, yes. Many manual doors can be retrofitted with a powered operator, subject to the frame's condition and size. We'll assess it on the free survey and confirm what's possible before you commit.

At least once a year to stay compliant with BS EN 16005 — and every six months for busy sites like supermarkets or clinics. A service includes sensor calibration, force testing and safety checks to catch problems before they become breakdowns.

Every door we fit has a manual override so it can be opened by hand for escape, and we can add a battery backup so the door keeps working or fails safely open during an outage — keeping both access and security intact.

Most automatic door installations are completed in 1–2 days once the door is manufactured. A straight replacement is often done in a single day so your premises are never left open overnight.

Yes. Our operators include catch-return/obstruction safety and are available in a BS EN 16005-compliant configuration. We commission and force-test every door to BS EN 16005, which is how you meet your legal duties under the Machinery Directive and PUWER 1998.

We cover London and the surrounding areas. Wherever you are in the capital, call us and we'll confirm and book a survey — with 24/7 cover for emergency breakdowns.

Every job is unique, so we don't list fixed prices — you'd only be paying for someone's average. Book a free survey, or send photos/drawings of your opening and we'll come back fast with a competitive quote we're confident will match or beat any genuine like-for-like quotation.
