Why fit a cat flap

Freedom for Them. Peace of Mind for You.

Cats are happiest when the choice is theirs — to slip out and patrol the garden at dawn, then curl up inside when the rain comes. A cat flap hands them that freedom, and quietly hands you your evenings back.

No more being a doorman at all hours. No more worrying whether they're stuck outside while you're at work or away for the weekend. A flap means more exercise and less boredom for your cat, fewer accidents indoors, and a calmer, happier household — for everyone with paws and without.

The Range difference

Fitted by Glaziers — Not Guesswork

A cat flap in glass is a glazing job, not an odd job. Get it wrong and you crack a sealed unit, ruin the insulation, or leave a draughty, unsafe finish. We've been making and fitting glass across London for over a decade — so your cat's new door is done properly, first time.

Made-to-Measure Toughened Glass

For glass and double glazing we manufacture a brand-new sealed unit with the flap hole pre-cut and toughened — never a risky cut into your existing glass.

Insulation Kept Intact

Your door stays as warm and weather-tight as before. We seal the new unit and the flap correctly so there are no draughts or misting.

A Clean, Precise Finish

Straight, centred, and sized to your cat. The kind of finish that looks like it was always meant to be there — because we measure properly.

Honest Advice First

If a flap isn't right for your door, we'll tell you — and suggest the best alternative. No upselling, no surprises, just straight talk.

Which flap is right for your cat

Manual, Magnetic, Microchip or Smart

There's no single best flap — only the best one for your cat and your home. Here's the honest rundown, and we'll happily help you decide.

Manual / 4-Way

The simplest option. A 4-way latch lets you set it to in-only, out-only, fully open or fully locked. Reliable and budget-friendly.

Best for: single-cat homes, budget

Magnetic

Opens only when it senses a magnet on your cat's collar — a simple way to deter most other animals from wandering in.

Best for: keeping strays out, collar-friendly cats

Microchip

Reads your cat's existing microchip, so only your cat gets in — no collar needed. The best defence against foxes and the neighbour's cat.

Best for: most homes, multi-cat households

App / Smart

Microchip control plus a phone app — set curfews, get in-and-out notifications, and know your cat's home safe.

Best for: tech lovers, anxious owners

We supply & fit trusted brands including SureFlap, PetSafe and Cat Mate — or fit a flap you already own.

Simple from start to finish

How Your Cat Flap Gets Fitted

1

Free Survey & Measure

We visit, check your door or glass, talk through flap options, and take precise measurements. Often we can measure from outside if you're out.

2

Made-to-Measure Unit

For glass, your new toughened double-glazed unit is manufactured with the flap hole pre-cut — typically ready in a few working days.

3

Neat Installation

We fit the unit and flap, seal everything properly, test it, and tidy up after ourselves. Most fits take around 30–60 minutes.

4

Say Hello to Freedom

We show you how it works and how to introduce your cat — then their new little door is ready for its first adventure.

Why glass needs a brand-new unit (the honest bit)

You may have read that someone can simply "cut a hole" in your double glazing. They can't — not safely. A sealed double-glazed unit is toughened and airtight, and cutting it shatters the glass. The correct, lasting method is to make a fresh sealed unit with the hole cut before toughening. It takes a few days longer, but it's the difference between a flap that lasts years and one that fogs up, leaks heat, or cracks. We only do it properly.

After we've fitted it

Helping Your Cat Feel at Home With It

A new flap can feel strange for a day or two. A little patience is all it takes — here's what works.

Prop it open at first

Tape the flap up so it stays open. Let your cat walk through with nothing to push against until they're comfortable.

Tempt them through with treats

Sit on the other side and coax them through with a favourite treat or toy. Reward every brave little crossing.

Lower the flap gradually

Once they're confident, let the flap rest down a little at a time so they get used to the gentle push and swing.

We'll set up the microchip

If you've chosen a microchip flap, we'll help register your cat so it recognises them from day one. No collar, no fuss.

What Affects the Price

Every home is different, so we quote each job individually — always free and with no obligation. Here's what shapes the cost, so there are no surprises when we do.

Your door material

Fitting into uPVC, timber or composite differs from making a new glass unit. Glass is the most specialist — and where our skill matters most.

The size of the glass

Glazed units are priced by area, so a small pane costs less than a full-length door panel. Sometimes a smaller pane is the smarter spot.

The flap you choose

A manual flap costs less than a microchip or app-controlled model. We'll show you the options at every budget.

Supplied or your own

We can supply the flap or fit one you've already bought, as long as it suits the door — whichever keeps your costs down.

Cat Flap Installation — Your Questions Answered

Yes — it's our speciality. As glaziers we make a brand-new made-to-measure toughened glass unit with the flap hole pre-cut before sealing, then fit it into your existing frame. The finish is neat and your door's insulation is preserved.

No — and be wary of anyone who claims they can. A sealed double-glazed unit is toughened and airtight; cutting it shatters the glass and ruins the seal. The correct method is a new sealed unit with the hole pre-cut, which is exactly what we do.

The fitting itself is usually 30–60 minutes. For glass we first survey and measure, then your made-to-measure unit is manufactured (typically a few working days) before we return to install it.

Glass and double glazing, uPVC doors and panels, timber and solid wood, composite doors, and patio, French, bifold and sliding doors. We can also fit into windows and, in some cases, through walls.

A manual/4-way flap is simplest and lockable. A magnetic flap opens for a collar tag. A microchip flap reads your cat's chip so only your cat gets in — the best defence against foxes and other cats. We'll advise based on your home and your cat.

Either. We supply popular SureFlap, PetSafe and Cat Mate models, or fit one you've already bought — as long as it suits the door or glass. Just let us know when you book your survey.

Fitted properly, no. We use made-to-measure toughened glass and seal the flap correctly to minimise draughts and heat loss. Microchip and locking flaps keep your home secure and unwanted animals out.

It depends on the door material, the flap type, and — for glass — the size of the unit, since glass is priced by area. We always give a clear, no-obligation quote before any work begins.

Yes — we strongly recommend it. Cutting ordinary annealed glass weakens it. Toughened safety glass is far stronger and safer around a flap, so we supply a new toughened unit as standard.

Yes. We can swap a worn or dated flap for a newer model — for example upgrading a manual flap to microchip — in the same opening where sizing allows, or supply a new unit if the opening needs to change.

Yes — we fit larger pet doors and dog flaps into the same range of doors and glass, sized to suit your dog. Get in touch and we'll recommend a suitable model.

We cover all of Greater London and the surrounding areas, including all 32 London boroughs. If you're just outside London, call us — we travel widely across the South East and beyond.

Almost all cats take to a flap with a little patience. We fit it at the right height, and afterwards you can prop it open, coax them through with treats, and let them learn at their own pace. Most are coming and going happily within a few days.
