Every night, your shop front is the only thing standing between your stock and whoever walks past. The right roller shutter removes that worry. We manufacture, supply and fit commercial roller shutters for shops, restaurants, pharmacies and offices — solid steel for maximum security, perforated and punched-hole laths where you want your window display working overnight, and open grilles where airflow and visibility matter.

Every shutter is measured, made and installed by our own fitters, with prices from £1,500 supplied and fitted. Prices may differ slightly or increase depending on exact size and design requirements.

Which roller shutter does your shop need?

Choosing a shutter is a trade-off between security and visibility. Here is the honest version of that decision, from a team that has fitted all four types for over 10 years.

TypeBest forVisibilitySecuritySupplied & fitted
Solid shutterJewellers, off-licences, high-risk paradesNoneHighestFrom £1,500
Perforated shutterFashion, phone shops, opticians — lit displaysHigh (mesh of small holes)StrongFrom £1,500
Punched-hole shutterConvenience stores, pharmaciesPartial (vision slots)Very strongFrom £2,200
Rolling grilleShopping centres, car parks, arcadesFull see-throughGoodFrom £2,200

Prices may differ slightly or increase depending on exact size and design requirements.

Rule of thumb: if the area outside your shop is busy and lit at night, visibility sells — choose perforated or grille. If it’s a quiet parade after dark, choose solid or punched-hole and let the strength do the work. Still unsure? Send us a photo of your frontage on WhatsApp (074 1232 3200) and we’ll tell you straight which one we’d fit.

Electric or manual operation?

Most shutters we fit today are electric — a tubular motor sits inside the barrel, operated by key switch, remote or smartphone. Manual push-up or winding-handle operation still makes sense for smaller, lighter curtains and tighter budgets.

Every electric shutter we install includes a manual override, so a power cut never locks you in or out. Full guide: electric roller shutters.

Roller shutter prices

Shutter pricing is simpler than most firms make it look: curtain type, size and operation decide most of the cost. Our supplied-and-fitted prices start at £1,500 for solid and perforated shutters and £2,200 for punched-hole and rolling grilles, based on a typical single shop front opening. Prices may differ slightly or increase depending on exact size and design requirements.

Do shop shutters need planning permission?

Usually not — but there are exceptions worth knowing before you buy. External shutters on listed buildings or in conservation areas normally need consent, and some councils restrict solid external shutters on high streets for appearance reasons. We deal with this constantly: as part of your survey we’ll tell you if your property is affected and, where needed, an internally-fitted or grille shutter usually solves it. We handle the consent conversation with the council as part of the job — the same way we handle it for full shop front installations.

Roller shutter FAQs

Our shutters cost from £1,500 supplied and fitted for solid and perforated types, and from £2,200 for punched-hole shutters and rolling grilles, based on a typical single shop front. Prices may differ slightly or increase depending on exact size and design requirements. You’ll get an exact fixed quote after a free survey.

The curtain — interlocking metal laths or a grille — rolls around a barrel housed in a box above your opening, running in guide rails either side. Electric models turn the barrel with a tubular motor; manual models use a spring with a push-up lock or winding handle.

A solid steel shutter offers the highest resistance because there are no openings in the curtain. Punched-hole shutters are nearly as strong while keeping some visibility. We’ll recommend honestly based on your street, stock and insurer’s requirements.

Yes — that’s exactly what perforated and grille shutters are for. Perforated laths keep a lit display readable through thousands of small holes; rolling grilles keep the whole frontage visible.

Most don’t. Listed buildings, conservation areas and some council high-street policies are the exceptions. We check this for you at survey stage and recommend a compliant type if yours is affected.

Most single shop front shutters are installed in one day. Made-to-measure manufacture typically takes 7–10 working days from survey, so allow around two weeks end to end.

Electric for anything used daily or larger than about 8m²; manual to save money on smaller, lighter shutters. Every electric shutter we fit has a manual override for power cuts.

Yes — CE/UKCA-marked to BS EN 13241, with safety brakes on powered models, installed by our own trained fitters and demonstrated to you at handover.
